I’ve been doing a lot of furniture shopping, and have found that most stores look alike and carry the same dull merchandise. Is your store different?
Totally. Most stores carry the least expensive and most conventional furniture they can find, because they don’t believe that customers appreciate better quality and design. We disagree. We’re stubbornly independent and have our own ideas. We carry only what we love, and, so far, our customers have loved it too. At Leather Furniture Shops, you’ll find better quality, more innovative designs, more color and more variety. You’ll experience that “wow” factor you don’t get in other stores.
Do you show a lot of leather furniture in your showroom, or do I have to look through catalogues?
At Leather Furniture Shops, we have the largest and most complete selection of leather furniture anywhere. All of it is here for you to see in person and sit on. We don’t believe that you should have to buy a sofa or chair from a picture.
Do I have to buy it in the same color you show it in?
No. everything comes in a wide variety of colors, patterns and grades. Bring in your carpet samples and paint chips and we’ll help you find leather that’s just right for your home. It’s all made to order for you, so the sky is the limit.
We carry many brands and price categories of leather furniture. Our leather sofas run from the low $1000’s to well over $4000. Something for every budget. All of them satisfy our strict quality standards. We want to be proud of every item that comes from Leather Furniture Shops.
Is it okay to buy leather furniture that has vinyl on the outsides and backs?
Many store carry “leather match,” particularly on recliners. It is less expensive than “all leather” but as with most things, you get what you pay for. Vinyl is a plastic material that can fade, crack or tear, whether it’s on an area the body touches or not. With leather match, you can end up with a chair that is perfect on the inside, and an eyesore on the outside. At Leather Furniture Shops, we carry only 100% leather furniture.
Is leather furniture practical for homes with children and pets?
You bet. For longevity and ease of care, leather puts all other upholstery materials to shame. It’s the strongest sheet material known to man, outlasting most fabrics four-to-one. And at Leather Furniture Shops, we are careful to select merchandise that is as durable on the inside as it is on the outside. When you purchase leather furniture from Leather Furniture Shops, don’t be afraid to use it as well.
How do you clean leather furniture?
At Leather Furniture Shops, we offer a vast assortment of leathers on every item. Most require just a damp cloth or mild leather cleaner. Some finer leathers are more susceptible to staining, and may require further care. We’ll explain the differences, and help you select a leather that is perfect for your lifestyle.
It’s nearly impossible to tear our leather, but if you cut, scratch or even burn a hole in it, there are leather repairmen who can come to your home and fix it like new. Just try and repair fabric furniture!
Isn’t leather hot in the summer and cold in the winter?
Nonsense. Real leather has pores. The way our leather is processed, it will breathe as our own skin does. It maintains the temperature of the room it’s placed in.
What does the term “aniline dyed” mean?
Aniline dying is a drum dye process in which the dye permeates the hide, rather then coloring just the top surface. All the leathers at Leather Furniture Shops are aniline dyed. There are two types of aniline leathers. In Pure Aniline leathers (also known as Full Aniline), the leather is drum dyed with no further steps. This produces the softest, most supple, and most expensive leather. Aniline Plus leathers (also known as Semi Aniline), the leather is drum dyed, then coated with a surface pigment dye to even out the color and add protection to the leather. This produces a less soft but more cleanable and affordable leather than a Pure Aniline.
I’ve seen something called Bonded Leather in other stores, and it’s incredibly inexpensive. What is it?
Bonded leather is made from little, discarded scraps of leather. It is fused together to create a flat surface, and then dyed and sprayed with polyurethane. It doesn’t have the strength or integrity of regular leather, and doesn’t breathe. We don’t carry bonded leather at Leather Furniture Shops.
What is the difference between “top grain” and” full grain” leather?
Top Grain leather is any leather cut from the outer layer of the hide. In our opinion, it is the only type of leather that is strong enough for heavy use. In contrast, the weaker, lower layers of the hide, called “Split Leather” can crack or tear, and can be typically found on cheaper leather furniture. We don’t carry it. As for Full Grain leather, it is a Top Grain leather that has all the natural graining intact. It is usually less stiff than “corrected” leather, which has had its natural grain altered. As long as it’s Top Grain leather, though, it will last and last.
What if I want to buy a sofa in leather and a chair in a coordinating fabric?
You’re in luck, many of our manufacturers offer regular fabric as an option, and most offer Ultrasuede or some other microfiber.
